Description

As a Landscape Technician at Adkins Landscape Contracting, you will be responsible for performing various tasks related to the installation and maintenance of landscaping projects. This role involves working outdoors, using specialized tools and equipment, and collaborating with a team to create and maintain beautiful, functional outdoor spaces for our clients. Primarily, you will work outdoors in various weather conditions, with some time spent in equipment operation and maintenance. Depending on project schedules, it may require working early mornings, evenings, or weekends.



 

Job Responsibilities

  • Installation: Assist in the installation of landscape features, including planting trees, shrubs, flowers, and laying sod, as well as installing hardscape elements like patios, walkways, and retaining walls.
  • Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, weeding, mulching, and fertilizing plants to ensure optimal health and appearance.
  • Irrigation Systems: Help install and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring proper watering of plants and landscapes.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate landscaping equipment, such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, and other machinery, while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Site Preparation: Prepare sites for planting and installation by clearing debris, grading soil, and ensuring proper drainage.
  • Client Interaction: Occasionally interact with clients on-site to provide updates and address questions or concerns regarding ongoing projects.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as part of a team, following instructions from the Crew Leader and collaborating to complete projects efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.


 

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional courses in horticulture, landscaping, or related fields are a plus.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in landscaping or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and landscaping techniques.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and clients.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
