Description

As a Landscape Designer at Adkins Landscape Contracting, you will be responsible for creating innovative and sustainable landscape designs that meet the needs and preferences of our clients. You will collaborate with clients, project managers, and construction teams to develop aesthetic, functional, and environmentally friendly outdoor spaces. Primarily office-based with occasional site visits to assess projects and meet clients. It may require working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Client Consultation: Meet with clients to understand their vision, preferences, and requirements for outdoor spaces.
  • Site Analysis: Conduct site assessments to evaluate environmental conditions, existing vegetation, and site topography.
  • Design Development: Create detailed landscape design plans, including planting layouts, hardscape elements, and irrigation systems using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp).
  • Plant Selection: Recommend appropriate plant species based on climate, soil conditions, and aesthetic goals, considering sustainability and maintenance.
  • Budget Management: Prepare estimates and budgets for landscape projects, ensuring feasible and cost-effective designs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other team members to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with local zoning and environmental regulations.
  • Presentation: Present design concepts to clients, incorporating feedback and making necessary adjustments.
  • Project Management: Oversee projects from conception to completion, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Research and Development: Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and sustainable practices.


 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in landscape design or a related field.
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing previous landscape design projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with local plant species, landscape materials, and sustainable design practices.
  • Licensure or certification in Landscape Architecture is a plus.
